Twelve Everest high school students bagged a total of 70 medals, 15 gold and 55 silver, in the World Scholar’s Cup Manila Global Round held from September 6 to 11, 2019 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre and De La Salle Santiago-Zobel School. Our students were grouped into four teams of three students each. One team was named one of the Top 10 Debate Teams, besting 200 other teams. All our four teams qualified to compete in the Tournament of Champions scheduled on November 8 to 13, 2019 in Yale University, Connecticut, USA.
The World Scholar’s Cup is an annual competition aimed to inspire a global community of future leaders and scholars. Some 1500 scholars from 30 countries participated in contests that promote awareness on current global issues. Their knowledge and understanding in Science, History, Social Science, Special Area, Arts & Music, and Literature were also tested in the Scholar’s Challenge, Scholar’s Bowl, Collaborative Writing, and Team Debate.
Everest Academy Manila congratulates all participating students and teachers for this incredible achievement. The school continues to provide opportunities for students to share their God-given talents and skills and, most importantly, gain a deeper awareness of the pressing issues in our society that needs an active response from our future leaders.
